San Jose Drop-in Meditation Class:
Sunday, February 5th, 11 - 12:15pm: Maintaining a Mind of Refuge
Do you feel protected? In Buddhism, we look towards the Three Jewels for refuge. The Dharma Jewel is like a boat, the Buddha Jewel is like a skillful navigator and the Sangha Jewel is like the crew. We need to depend upon all three to cross the ocean of suffering. Perhaps we understand this if we’ve been practicing for a while, but can we maintain a feeling of protection? Is your refuge actually working? Let’s delve. Everyone is welcome.
Saturday, March 18th, 11 - 12:15pm: Creating Happiness: The Laws of Karma
When we find ourselves immersed in problems, we often ask: Why me? But do we have an answer? Do we feel unlucky? Do we feel that we’ve been dealt an unfair hand?
Using the laws of karma, rather than running from unhappiness, we learn to abandon its causes. Rather than chasing happiness, we learn to create it.
